JT Robertson lived in the second-poorest county in New York State. After a train ride near Cuba, NY, JT fell in love and to share his experience with kids in his neighborhood. Only no one could afford a train ticket.
So JT came up with a way to raise the money. He had been used to collecting aluminum cans for money as a way to earn extra cash. So he used this idea to fund his new love.
JT collected enough cans to pay for 22 train rides for the kids in his neighborhood. The next year he and his friends saved enough cans to pay for 84 kids and 44 adults. And he plans even to pay for even more future trains rides! - Gallant Kids. Highlights Magazine. p 7. Oct. 2008.
Now, this is the kind of savin'-n-givin' that is being promoted here!
